Tier bedeutet: Schicht, Ebene (siehe: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/tier )

Im Zusammenhang mit ISPs hab ich auch noch folgende Definiton gefunden:

Bin gerade wieder über den englischen Ausdruck "Tier1" gestolpert.
Kann wer von Euch einem Computer-Laien (wie mir) erklären was der Begriff bedeutet?
