Hey everyone!

I'd like to thank Geizhals for providing an English version for such a long time. I've grown accustomed to it and used to link Geizhals to my English-speaking friends a lot. Although the translations weren't always 100% accurate, Geizhals provides an incredibly useful search engine for products. Its filters are so powerful, that I've recommended Geizhals.eu to people outside the European market to research and compare products.

Geizhals is honestly the most powerful product comparison website I've seen. Please bring back English, so I can once more share Geizhals links and screenshots with my non-German-speaking contacts.
Could we get an update on the reversion to English for the .eu site? It's my favourite and only site to find new and existing tech products, and it's nigh impossible to use as it is now.

The only alternative I've found was the Geizhals app on mobile that still has English as an option, but desktop version is much preferred.

Thanks.
I had suggested some time ago to keep the specs within relational database. This would be much more suitable for checks, adjustments - and here for translations to different languages.
Hey!

Over the last week we evaluated various suggestions from this thread as well as other options and came to the following conclusions:
- the former translation system is quality wise not up to our standards, an enormous manual work and on top of that technically hard to maintain
- translation of the product data and filter adds up to 30+ mio text strings, so a manual approach is not really feasible, regardless of the underlying tool/system
- the bergamot project is interesting, we have tested the client based setup, which works quite well but unfortunately has the caveat, that the translation modules have a 30MB payload per session, which is in our point of view not ideal without the user knowing. For those interested, the Firefox extension can be downloaded here > https://browser.mt/

Next steps:
- short/medium term we will provide the static content geizhals.eu in English
- long term we will continue evaluating a proper automated solution e.g. server side implementation of bergamot but we currently cannot promise an ETA or if the evaluation will result in a feasible solution

Best regards,
Blub
I literally justr egistered because I spent some time to find out what is going on with the site.
I don't speak german but I use the .eu site as I buy fro germany (I live in Germany), so using UK site doesn't help at all. I prefer to see prices and availability in Germany. There is already the .de site which I thought it's for people that prefer German, and the .eu for rest of Europe that prefer English language, with still showing Euro and - on choice - German stores...

I was really surprised to see that now there is 2 sites in German (perhaps there is Austrian and Swiss site as wlel in German I don't know)... there doesn't seem to be a point to that, except lock some people out...
A test requires and A B group to evaluate if the change would be beneficial and still you would miss all the people that activated automatic translation of the browser to bypass the modification.

Unfortunatly, as others said Geizhals is my favorite way to test for prices and thanks to it I often buy from Germany, instead of Italy just because the price is better or maybe because I can't find here what I'm looking for.

Obviously the idea of giving out in the European address the German language will impact my usage of Geizhals and probably I will switch to something else to don't have the struggle to read a bad automatic translation of the browser.

Ah before sure there was some errors here and there, but the english was mostly OK, better than what browser is doing now.

Please, reset the test and maybe perform it with an A-B group...

Der Implementierungsaufwand, die Sprache anstatt via Accept-Language durch IRGENDWAS anderes (z.
Nevermind logging in. It's practically impossible to use all the advanced filters through Google translate.
Also, same here: I buy almost all IT stuff from Germany.
Please don't change geizhals.eu to German language since we already have the geizhals.de for this.
Yes, please do not remove the English version. Even the current version is way better than an automated translated one. And I couldn't log in while using Google Translate. I use this site and buy more PC parts from Germany than my own country.
Hello,

Please, do not do this! While the English translation may not be "sufficient enough for our expectations", it absolutely IS sufficient to use your website for all us non-german speakers, whereas this german version is a pure headache for us. Seeing as there already are geizhals.at and geizhals.de, what is the point of swithing to german? Most german speakers are in DE and AU, while the vast majority of the rest of the EU are far more proficient in English. I've also seen a suggestion for using skinflint.co.uk, but that's a non-starter, since I'm not interested in pounds and british shops.

Thank you!

EDIT: Regardless of what I've said above, I'm sure you have your reasons for doing this. However, I think I can speak for all us non-german speakers and say that we would VERY much appreciate having the option to switch back to English. And, presuming that you don't intend to close down skinflint.co.uk, maintaining that shouldn't be that big of a workload.
Hey!

We are currently testing out to deliver geizhals.eu only in German as the quality of the English translations is not sufficient enough for our expectations. We recommend using https://geizhals-eu.translate.goog/?_x_tr_sl=de&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=de&_x_tr_pto=wapp

Best regards,
Blub
Hello,

Today I open geizhals.eu and it is all in German language. I don't see how to switch it to English. I tried clearing cookies. Is there a setting somewhere I can't find? Thanks.
