BOB ist der Versuch von Microsoft im Jahre 1995 eine Oberfläche für Windows
(3.1x oder Win95)
zu erschaffen, die extrem einfach zu bedienen sein soll.
Der Codename für die neue Oberfläche war übrigens
Utopia, sie wurde vor BOB schon einmal in einen Kinderschreibprogramm
namens Creative Writer eingebaut,dazu mehr in den Presseartikeln von BOB und Utopia.

Was macht TopDesk?

Kurz umschrieben ersetzt TopDesk die Funktion der Alt-Tab Kombination durch eine
grafisch gestaltete Ansicht der geöffneten und minimierten Fenster/Programme auf
dem Desktop. Mit einem einzelnen Tastendruck können alle Fenster so auf dem Desktop
platziert werden, dass man alle Fenster und deren Inhalt gleichzeitig sieht.
Dies vereinfacht die Auswahl des richtigen Fensters. Dadurch, dass man den Inhalt in
verkleinerter Form sehen kann, und nicht nur durch den Fensternamen erahnen muss,
fällt die Wahl ungemein einfach aus.

Die Entwickler von BumpTop haben in einem Video den Prototypen ihrer Vision vom
künftigen virtuellen Arbeitsplatz vorgestellt. Sie orientieren sich dabei an normalen
Arbeitsflächen, Dokumente und Dateien lassn sich stapeln, sortieren und umherschieben.
In Worten kann man das kaum beschreiben, glücklicherweise haben die Entwickler ein Video online gestellt, zu sehen gibts das Ganze auf der BumbTop Homepage.
