Confirmation of SLOW v5
Cuts my speed almost exactly in half. Cut my cable speeds from 3-3.5 Meg down to 1.5-1.6. Tested this many many times. Flashed Bios from 1.0 1.02. No improvement.
Went to work and unplugged T1 from our backbone and connected this guy. ( scheduled downtime for a rack move )
It cut my speeds to just under 800.
Highly disappointed


The v5 is unable to hold a static IP from comcast business either. Get to reset it once a day minimum! It loves to take the IP of the gateway or assign a LAN IP as the WAN IP! It seems to love doing the LAN thing of late with the 1.06 firmware as I haven't seen it try to grab the gateway in a few weeks. This thing is the ultimate POS. Glad the office picked one up and found this out before I bought mine. I picked up a GL from newegg and slapped DDWRT on it!


v5 is perhaps the worst thing Linksys could have done.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
I swapped out my Linksys BEFW11S4 v2.1 router and installed
the Linksys WRT54G v5 router into my network for testing.
This is a wired network, so we can avoid the complexities of
wireless. This router now has the latest firmware installed,
and I reset to factory defaults before installing to my DSL
ISP.
Anyway, a new problem showed up that is very weird.
Every 10 minutes, my Yahoo Messenger program logs me out
and in again. This can be real annoying to all your friends who
have you on their IM list because every 10 minutes they get
alerts that I went off line and then back online again.
Everything exacly the same, I swap my BEFW11S4 v2.1 router
back in and no problems exist with Yahoo Messenger.
Figure that out.
