Hi!

Hab ein Asus A7V133 mit Via KT133A und eine Soundblaster 5.1 Live! Soundkarte.
Welche Patches sind zu installieren, um den Via Bug zu beheben?
Nur die 4in1 Treiber, oder gibts da was spezielles?
Das (http://www.networking.tzo.com/net/software/ ) hab ich noch gefunden, der Patch läßt sich aber nicht downloaden.

Danke, den neuesten 4in1 hab ich eh! (v4.37(a)).
Sollten damit alle Probleme behoben sein oder muss ich sonst noch was machen, ich find im Netzt 1000ende Sachen, werd aber jetzt nicht schlau draus, was man machen muss. Manche stellen die Interrupts um, manche fuxen im Bios herum, andere machen ein Biosupdate, andere verwenden irgendwelche Tools, um einstellungen auf der Southbridge (oder North, oder was auch immer) zu verändern.
Man sieht da aber meistens nie auf welches Datum sich die Artikel beziehen.

Mich würd eigentlch interessieren, ob sich oben genanntes mit der installation der neuen ViaTreiber von selbst erledigen sollte?

Es gibt keine 100% Lösung fürs Problem.

Oftmals bringen die richtigen BIOS einstellungen eine Besserung, bei anderen tritt das Problem gar nicht auf ...

Also einfach ausprobieren was für dich am besten pfunziwunzifunztatatut ; )

Aber auch die ganzen Updates verhindern den Systemcrash nicht, sondern schützen nur vor den Folgen (Datenverlust).
Sowas kotzt mich an. Dann soll VIA eben eine Rückholaktion machen.
Wenn das bei PKW funktioniert, warum dann nicht auch bei Mainboards?

Ist zwar kein Trost, aber wenigstens bin ich hier nicht mehr allein mit dem Problem. Ich finds auch witzig, das die so einen Schrott verkaufen dürfen, das mit dem Datenverlust ist sowieso so arg. Wenn ich bei einer Menge downgeloadeter Files auf meiner Platte die CRC prüfe, dann kommt jedesmal ein anderes Ergebnis raus?!? Einen DVD auf HD zu kopieren (Smart Ripper) ist beinahe unmöglich. Selbst der gekaufte MovieJack schmiert ab :~)

Es muss doch eine Lösung dafür geben? Mit Umtausch is nicht, da spielt ASUS sicher nicht mit (ist ähnlich wie beim Nokia 8210 da sind ja auch alle Displays defekt und sie versuchen so viel Leute wie möglich abzuwimmeln, damit sie nicht alle umtauschen müssen).

Wie ists bei Dir eigentlich mit den Temperaturen? Meine CPU hat 56° und die Northbrigde 32° (ist doch ziemlich warm, nicht?).

ich hab diesbezgl noch folgenden Text gefunden, von einem der sagt, des Rätsels Lösung gefunden zu haben (ich habs allerdings noch nicht geschafft meine Soundcard zu einem anderen IRQ zu überreden):

I've read so many ppl said they have problem with this combo. Well, at first I did, but now my system is running rock stable. Here's some specs:

Asus a7v133 RAID w/o onboard sound (bios 1007 Beta 001-G)
TBird 1200c @ 1200
2 x 256MB PC133 Siemens CL2
Asus V7700 GeForce2 GTS Pure 32MB
3COM NIC (slot 5)
SB Live! 5.1 DE (slot 4)
IBM 75GXP 30.6 GB ATA100 (primary-1)
Acer 50x CD-ROM (primary-2)
HP 8x4x32 CD-Writer (primary-1 onboard Promise ATA 100 controller)

Driver:
Windows 98SE
4in1 driver 4.33
Nvidia reference driver 21.50
Promise ATA100 driver v1.60 (build 33)

I admit that this board had some problems with SB Live! card. But now I have no more problem with it, so I just want to share my experience.

I think the first thing to check is the IRQ settings. I managed to get rid of BSOD during OS loading after soundcard's driver was installed. I'm very sure that the cause of this BSOD is because of the soundcard, because if I don't install the soundcard driver, no BSOD. Right after I install the driver, next time I boot the system, BSOD is waiting for me. Then, I removed the soundcard driver in SafeMode.
After observing IRQ setting for quite some times, I found that IRQ 5 and 7 are needed by soundcard. So I just went to bios, and set the "PCI Slot 4/5 to use IRQ 5", and also set "IRQ 5 and 7 for Legacy device". To ensure the resources needed by the soundcard are really available, also set "DMA 1 and 5 to be reserved for legacy device". After that, you might want to set "Reset Configuration Data to YES". Then install the soundcard driver.
The results is SB Live! 5.1 is using IRQ 5, and the SB16 Emulation is using IRQ 7, DMA 1 and 5. Also don't let the SB16 Emulator to share the interrupt with LPT (you can set it from control panel).
Well, that stops the BSOD in my case.

My CD-ROM is running with DMA mode on. CD-Write can't be set to DMA mode, coz it's connected to Promise ATA100 controller No data corruption ever happens while burning cd nor copying files from CD-ROM to harddisk. Maybe I'm one of the lucky user with this kind of system?

One more thing, try to disable "Byte Merge" and "PCI to DRAM prefect" if you encounter other problem with your PCI card. When I enable this settings, my NIC just won't work, no connection.

Ok, that's how I got my system running rock-stable. I've run it for 7x24 hrs, playing games, download files, burn cd, leave it standby when I didn't use it, no freezes at all. Except some errors from Internet Explorer, which happens on all systems, not only mine (also on Pentium systems  ).
But it cost me 1 AGP slot cooler fan, and 2 case fans, for running my PC for 7x24 hrs. Hmmmm, shouldn't buy cheap fans.

Hi!

Jepp ist schon was dran,- Via baut billig Chipsätze die leider oft fehlerhaft sind.

ICh selber hatte aber noch nie Probleme (bzw. nicht unlösbare) mit ziemlich jeden Via Board! Sie sind nur einfach um vieles Empfindlicher als der große Intelbruder ; )
