Warte auf die Radeon2

wennst sofort eine willst nimm dir die Ati Radeon 32MB TV-Out
- ist vom Preis/Leistungsverhältnis her am besten - aber eine mit
DDR-Ram.

zur Radeon2: (von rage3d.com)

Some more R200/R300 Rumours and other stuff - 2:06 pm EST - MrB

Hardware.fr has this to say about the two cards.

At the time of the advertisement of its results, ATI indicated that
R200 (Radeon 2) was in good voice and that it will arrive well
during the summer (in September thus...). R300 will follow in the
tread, since it should be ready at the end of 2001 for a launching
on the market during the first or second quarter 2002. By way of
recall, the rumours on R200 give a report on a given rhythm chip
with 250 MHz, supporting N-Patches, the Shaders Vertexes and being
able for each cycle clock to carry out made of 4 pixels into dual
texturing. With regard to R300, all that one knows it is that it
should be given rhythm to approximately 350 MHz and that it will be
compatible DirectX 9. Wait & See thus!
This was translated from the original french source.

johan over at Ace's Hardware has posted a news bit saying this:

The ATI Radeon 2 (R200) will boast four rendering pipelines,
clocked at 250MHz, which wil run in sync with 250 MHz DDR SDRAM.
The Radeon 2 will be a fully DirectX8 compliant card like the
Geforce 3.
Industry sources told us that the Radeon 2 would also dispose of
several clever techniques to reduce bandwidth utilization such as
an improved version of Hyper Z, and a technology to intelligently
manage the texture buffer. To be confirmed...

Gavric has summed up all the rumours into a chart and applied
some "reality" to them. You can check that out here

The chart helps to see it better that R300 and R200 will differ not
so dramatically, indeed. It's just a matter of clocking and the
mythical DirectX 9. Today there is too little known about DirectX 9
to say anything certain about it, so "DirectX 9 support" may stand
for NURBS or B-splines support, as The Inquirer guesses.
We have another idea that seems closer to the reality. As we
assume, R200 and R300 will be manufactured by the same technology
and will have the same number of pipelines, therefore it's quite
probable that R300 is merely an accelerated R200. If so, it's
logical to take R300 for RADEON 2 Ultra. To support this point of
view, we'll bring the fact that it usually takes ATI more than half
a year to work out a new architectural solution and it is unlikely
that anything brand new will be created by this winter when R300
starts sampling.
and lastly my good bud Ben over at pcrave has gotten an official
response from ATI. (The typical response!) ;)

We don't offer commentary about speculation in the marketplace
about unannounced ATI products. As I indicated earlier, there is no
such product as RADEON2. Our next-generation product is code-named
R200 and is coming out at the end of the Summer.
