Da soll jetzt keiner erneuter Glaubenskrieg aufkommen. Die Frage ergeht an alle die hauptsächlich mit Linux arbeiten. Es rennt ja leider nicht alles unter Linux/Wine. Wozu nützt ihr noch Windows?

Einige fehlinterpretieren den thread und werfen nun mit spezialanwendungen um sich daher nochmal:

Welche Anwendungen bringt ihr utner Linux partout nich zum Laufen bzw welche für euch relevante gibts es da einfach nicht?

Hintergrund. Seit einem fast guten halben Jahr ist bei mir Ubuntu das Haupt OS. Office, Music, Multimedia (ja), Instant Messaging (nun auch XFire), Coding (aptana), Terminplaner, Verwaltung etc läuft alles unter Ubunutu und auch die Zwischendurch Games und (S)NES Emulatoren rennen tadellos,

Windows Vista nütze ich im Grunde nur noch für Programmieren in ColdFusion unter Dreamweaver, für Photoshop (nein GIMP ist KEIN ersatz) und für aktuelle Games. Wie schauts bei euch aus?

mein grund zum wechsel war die performance von Ubuntu. hier startet alles flugs inkl aller dienst und dem DOCK in weniger als einer minute. Vista lädt hier bei zeiten schon mal drei Minuten bis man damit arbeiten kann, bleibt aber auch danach sehr träge.

freu mich auf erfahrungsberichte (und auf keinem falls sinnloses gebashe)

hier ein auszug der programme die ich so verwende (nix exotisches dabei)

:

vlc für videos
songbird für music
opera, thunderbird und sunbird, open office, aptana
pidgin mit gfire plugin, eclipse, gimp (für kleinere einfache sachen), Filezilla, TrueCrypt
