Ich nehme die Anschuldigungen gegen Mindfarory zurück! Nachdem mich der Chef kontaktiert hat, hatten wir ein sehr gutes Gespräch. Ich habe da in meiner Verärgerung wohl ein wenig überreagiert und den falschen zur Verantwortung gezogen. Laut dem Chef bin ich nicht der einzige mit diesem Problem, und sie hätten mit 10% aller AMD CPUs Probleme. Nicht nur er als Großhändler, sondern auch andere. Bei Intel ist nie so ein Problem aufgetreten, wenn was defekt ist, laut Mindfactory 2-3 Stück, würden diese anstandslos getauscht. Daraufhin habe ich mit AMD selber telefoniert, keine zufriedenstellende Antwort bekommen, und nach den schrecklichen ereignissen letzter Woche, folgende Email an alle AMD Adressen heute versendet.

Dear AMD Team!

After the horrible occurrences last week, I decided to send my complaint later, at this date.

My story about my AMD CPU:
I bought the AMD Tunderbird 1333MHz at the 31.09.01, with the mainboard Elitegroup K7VZA and the cooler Cooler Master EP5-6I51P, listed at Top 2 at the german PC-Professionell http://www.vnunet.de/pc-pro/bestenliste/kuehler.asp  . I assembled all, it runs fine. After a time, I want to play Unreal Tournament, with my new powerfull CPU. I installed the game, and I played. All was fine, but after 20 minutes the pc freeze complete. I must complete shutdown the pc (switch power off). I searched the failure, I downloaded all newest driver, like newest Nvidia reference driver, VIA 4-1 driver, newest Bios for the elitegroup mainbaord, newest bugfixes for Unreal, made Windows ME Internetupdate, set the Bios settings to the very conservative (by the way, on this mainboard model, you can't overclock, it has an automatic CPU detection), nothing forces to success. I looked in Bios the tempurature was max 50 degree Celsius. My pal said, I shouldt nevertheless look at the cpu. At friday the 10.09.01, I opend my PC, an touched the cooler, it was very hot. Now I can't decide if it normal that 50 degree feels so hot. I remove the cooler, clean the core and the cooler and put new cooling paste at on it. I assembled all together, restart the PC, nothing happend. I looked twice if all right, it was, no success. I removed all other components, no way. The mainboard even doesn't beeped. I removed cpu, the same reaction. Í saw, the cpu must defect. Next day, I went to my dealer, http://www.mindfactory.de  , told the whole story, he said he must check the cpu, I must wait until monday (it was saturday). I was now very angry, I bought new pc pieces and now I can't use them. On monday I went to my dealer, he say he can't exchange, the cpu is damaged. I say thats is the reason, why I want to exchange, the cpu is defect and I want a new one. I say in germany we have a minimum warranty time from 6 month to all products you can buy everywhere, it gives no exceptions. He said that right, but on your cpu is the core damaged, we looked together, and we saw that a small pices from the corner of the core is broken. I asked, how it can happen, he said if you put the cooler wrong at the cpu, it can break the core. The AMD Athlon are very sensitive and they have large amount of AMD cpu's where is happens the same. Mindfactory can't exchange, because AMD refuses exchanges by mechanical damages. I said I can't be satisfied with this decission. They gave me a paper with the address from AMD Germany.

I talked with Ms Jacobsen, she told me, she knows these cases, she asked me if Mindfactory gave me the number, I said yes. she said she can't do anything and because she want talk longer with me, she gave me phone number from the Quality department in munich. At the phone number +49 89 45053147 I talked to Mr. Rauschert. He was very suprised, that a customer calls  him. I complained that I can't satisfied with the AMD warranty handling and why the AMD Athlon so sensitive. He say we have extra an Internet site with a correct assembling cpu and cooler. I say, I never became such info, however such info I never read in any PC Magazine. If you go to the AMD site in the internet, you must download 2.4MB!! PDF file http://www.amd.com:7246/us-en/Processors/TechnicalResources/0,,30_182_869_1039^1065,00.html  to get info, that you must assemble the cooler plan. At this time, I assembled many computers and I must never!!! read a building instruction. All other cpu's was designed, that you can't by normal handling, defect the cpu. I said to Mr. Rauschert, if I buy a other component like a graphic card, I must put only in the slot. I never ever read a building instruction, the assembling is ever the same. other example if I buy a car, I doesn't read a instruction before how to close a door, that works ever the same. A car manufacturer can't write a instruction, how to close a car door, that must work, how all other cars doors, also by all other brands. After discussing he said, that happens only 4 % at the cpu's. I say 4% is too much, if AMD has designed his cpu's too sensetive, than AMD must be more obliging in his warranty handling. Mr. Rauschert hasn't more pleasure to discuss with me and said I shouldt write an email, if possible in English to AMD, so that he doesn't must translate for AMD USA. Therefore I appologize for my not 100% correct english.

I work with PC's since 11 years, before I had since the early 80's homecomputer like Texas Instrument TI 99/4a, Commodore 64 or Commodore Amiga. In this long time, I had never such problem, like this. In this time I made much experience with Computer, in the year 1998 I made the Novell Certified Netware Engineer (CNE, CNE 5). All PC's I assembled self, so that I got the components, which I want. You see, I have some experience. Since the AMD 486 DX40 2 was on the market, I ever used AMD cpu's.
