Die Umweltschutzorganisation Greenpeace zitiert häufig Statistiken, nach denen es aufgrund von zu hohen Stickoxid-Belastungen in Deutschland jährlich 10.400 vorzeitige Todesfälle gibt. Medizinisch unbestritten ist, dass Stickoxid ein Reizgas ist, das Menschen mit Asthma oder einer „chronisch destruktiven Lungenerkrankung“ (COPD) stark belastet. Der auf die Wirkung von Aerosolen spezialisierte Lungenfacharzt Dieter Köhler bewertet die methodische Qualität der bisherigen Studien skeptisch: „Kleinste Unterschiede in der Sozialstruktur oder im Rauchverhalten werden bei diesen Studien nicht berücksichtigt, Störfaktoren wie das Rauchen, Zuverlässigkeit von Medikamenteneinnahmen, wenig Bewegung sind aber um ein Vielfaches einflussreicher als die Luftqualität.“

Benziner stoßen auch NOx aus und moderne Benziner sind richtige Rußschleudern.
Manche Benziner stoßen sogar mehr NOx aus als moderne Diesel.

Hier wird mit zweierlei Maß gemessen.

Die Deutsche Umwelthilfe und Greenpeace machen hier Panik wo kein Grund zur Panik besteht.
