Als "Ameisenmühle" oder "Kreismühle" (im Englischen "ant mill" oder "circular mill") wird ein spezielles Verhalten bezeichnet, das zumeist bei Wanderameisen beobachtet werden kann. Die fast oder vollständig blinden Tiere folgen den Pheromonspuren ihrer Vorgänger, was bei einer Überkreuzung der Spuren zum Laufen im Kreis führen kann. Diesen Spuren folgen weitere Ameisen, wodurch die Spur weiter verstärkt wird und schließlich eine größere Anzahl von Ameisen im Kreis läuft. Dieses Verhalten setzt sich meist bis zum Tod der Tiere durch Erschöpfung fort.

Als erster berichtete William Beebe 1921 von einer Ameisenmühle; diese hatte einen Umfang von 365 m, eine Arbeiterin brauchte zweieinhalb Stunden für eine Umrundung.

Dieses Verhalten kann außerdem bei Fischschwärmen und den Raupen von Prozessionsspinnern beobachtet werden.

Ameisenmühlen werden häufig aufgezeigt, um die Schwächen eines Kollektivs zu verdeutlichen,
in dem sich das Verhalten des einzelnen Individuum auf das Verhalten des gesamten Kollektivs auswirkt, ohne dass im Verhalten folgende Individuen die Auswirkungen prüfen (können).

When they’re not marching around in circles, army ants are one of the most efficient killing machines in the animal world.

The insects, found in South America, hunt in swarms of up to 200,000 individuals and are capable of killing 100,000 living creatures a day.

Ever sit at a friendly poker table with 4 other people, thinking you will be competing legitimately vs
4 separate individuals wanting to do well, and then later when you got fleeced, you realized you were
really facing 1 person who financially propped up the other 3 players to make it look like a fair game?

The stock market is no different.

Today the Dow is somewhere over 12,000.  Now it should be under 8,000 if realistically based
on the current economic climate.  But its rigged; propped up by government stimulus by 33%.

How am I so sure?

It's Friday afternoon.. nice to see the Dow dow 75pts so far..

Wish it would drop 4 digits but that's something we're always patiently waiting for...
the crash that once and for all stops people from believing we're in recovery and more importantly,
wipes out professional investors and the Jim Cramer 'Mad Money' viewers...

The official reasoning for the drop -- "profit taking"

In other words, the market going up is Good because higher numbers are always better than lower,
and the market dropping is a Good thing because rats are cashing out their profits...
